How to choose cooling, set up the app and activate your license. Answers to questions before you buy and while you work.

Before you buy

The app, compatibility and licensing.

What is Breeze?

Breeze is a Mac fan control and temperature monitoring app. Let automation handle cooling, select a fixed speed or set your own rules.

All Breeze features
Which Breeze plans are available?

€1 per month, €9.90 per year or €25 once for a lifetime license. Each plan covers one active Mac, with transfers allowed. Once payment is confirmed, your key arrives by email. Plans, payment availability and activation instructions are on the purchase page.

Buying and activating Breeze
What is the minimum macOS version?

Breeze requires macOS 11 Big Sur or later. macOS Catalina, Mojave and earlier systems are not supported. Available sensors and fan control depend on the Mac model.

System requirements
What should I know about Intel Macs?

The package includes a separate Intel version. Fan control depends on the Mac model, available sensors and permitted speed range. Check your model's compatibility with support before purchasing.

Will Breeze work on a fanless Mac?

Fan speed control works on Macs with fans. On fanless models, temperature monitoring depends on the sensors; the app cannot add active cooling.

How does the trial work?

The direct version has a 10-day trial. It unlocks manual modes and Breeze automation. Check the remaining time in the app; reinstalling does not start a new trial.

How do I activate a purchased license?

After purchasing the direct version, your key arrives by email. Open Activate License… in Breeze, enter the key and wait for confirmation. Step-by-step guide.

Cooling and sensors

Modes, readings and thermal protection.

How does System differ from other modes?

In System, macOS chooses normal fan speed. The 25%, 50%, 75% and Max modes set manual speeds within the permitted range. Automatic Breeze mode adjusts speed to CPU and GPU temperature: ready-made rules are already configured, and you can save your own rules separately for power adapter and battery. Fan control requires the Breeze helper.

Does 25% always mean very low fan speed?

This is a percentage of maximum fan speed, subject to your model's permitted manual minimum. If the calculated speed falls below that minimum, Breeze uses the minimum. The same percentage can produce different fan speeds on different Macs.

How does high-temperature protection work?

The default Breeze profile increases fan speed using fresh CPU and GPU temperatures, requesting maximum speed at 85 °C. The helper's separate thermal protection can also run without the app interface open.

Protection uses the available sensors. It does not impose a hard temperature limit on every component; the result depends on the workload and the Mac's cooling system.

What does ≈ next to a temperature mean?

This is a previously received value when a new sensor response has not yet been confirmed. It is not a new measurement. Data availability and freshness matter both for display and for control.

Why do the sensors differ from another app?

Apps may choose different sources and ways of combining temperatures. Breeze matches available sources to known sensors for the particular model. A missing source is shown as unavailable.

Does Breeze show the temperature of each process?

No. Sensors measure hardware component temperatures. These readings cannot assign a separate temperature to a particular app or process. CPU sensor names refer to thermal zones; a mapping to individual physical cores has not been confirmed.

Why does Breeze ask for administrator permission?

Permission is needed to install the helper that controls fans. macOS shows a system prompt for you to approve installation. Viewing available temperatures does not require installing this helper.

What happens after sleep or when Breeze quits?

When the app quits or loses its connection, the helper releases normal fan control to macOS. The helper's separate thermal protection can work without the interface being open.

Closing the window does not quit the app: Breeze keeps running in the menu bar.

Menu bar, history and logs.

How do I check temperatures while working?

View history in the app, export measurements or enable CSV logging for temperatures and fan speed. Choose the folder and recording interval yourself.

More about data
How do I keep Breeze in the menu bar and remove it from the Dock?

In Settings → Application, choose Run Mode → Background only. This is the default for a new installation. Open settings and monitoring windows whenever you need them; the app keeps running after you close them.

What does Show unidentified sensors do?

Settings → Application → Sensors can show additional available channels whose purpose has not been confirmed. Their names may look like technical codes. These readings do not automatically become CPU or GPU temperatures, and enabling this setting alone does not include them in the main aggregates.

Why is no CSV log being created?

In Settings → Log, choose a folder, enable logging and select at least one data type: temperatures or fan speeds. Choose the logging interval. Breeze writes fresh measurements to CSV; logging cannot start without a selected folder. Continuous logging is off by default.

Export snapshot saves a separate snapshot of your measurements. It is an independent command and does not enable continuous logging.

How is Extra logging different from CSV logging?

Settings → Application → Console output → Extra logging enables diagnostic messages in the macOS system log. In Console, enable debug messages and filter by Breeze or the com.andreipopravka.fanapp.development subsystem. This setting does not create a CSV file.

How do Check for updates and Automatic downloads work?

Check for updates checks the available build information. Automatic downloads allows the archive to be downloaded. Installing an update is a separate step; this setting does not replace the app or helper by itself.
